The book "A Shot of Hope" by Sergei Yastrzhembskyot of Hope"

Sergei Yastrzhembsky's book, "A Shot of Hope", is dedicated to trophy hunting - a pursuit that, according to the author himself, has changed his fate and defined his way of life for many years. He recounts his travels to various countries and regions of the world - from Alaska to Nepal - in search of rare and unique trophies.

In the book, you will find detailed descriptions of both the hunts themselves and the nature and wildlife of the countries visited, as well as the customs and hunting traditions of the local people

Sergei Yastrzhembsky emphasises that trophy hunting is not only a sport but also a means of preserving biodiversity, supporting this with examples from global experience and offering ways to develop hunting in Russia. This book will be of interest to professional hunters, enthusiasts and anyone fascinated by wildlife, indigenous cultures and the lifestyles of tribes and small communities living in remote corners of our planet.

About the author:
Sergei Vladimirovich Yastrzhembsky is a Russian statesman and diplomat. He holds a Ph.D. in History and is a member of the International Safari Club. He is also a documentary filmmaker and a member of the Russian and European Film Academies.

From the preface:
In my view, the structure of this book reflects the past, present and future (if there is one) of hunting. So the first section, "Yesterday: The Law of Survival" contains stories of my encounters (also featured in our documentary films) with representatives of various ethnic groups - Pygmies, Bushmen, Masai, Chukchi and Inuit - for whom hunting is a marker of their identity, part of their unique culture, and often a condition of survival. This is, in a sense, the "yesterday" of hunting, reflecting its ancient, archaic practices, which all the world's peoples have passed through to some extent.

The second section, "Today: The Experience of Trophy Hunting", introduces the reader to contemporary examples of well-organised hunting across different continents. I was particularly interested in the examples of countries such as Mozambique, Liberia and the UAE, where in recent years enthusiasts and hunters have created conditions for the conservation and reproduction of wildlife, enabling the revival of sport hunting. This experience clearly demonstrates that wildlife is an invaluable economic and social asset for any nation, an inexhaustible resource if used wisely.

Finally, the third section, "Tomorrow: Hunting Saves Nature" contains my observations and reflections on the contribution of hunters to the conservation of wildlife and its biodiversity. Without this symbiosis, this fusion and mutually enriching interaction between wildlife and hunters, neither nature nor hunting has a future! This is a belief shared by myself and many of my like-minded colleagues around the world.

This mission is what the book "A Shot of Hope" serves.
